so i just got a ps5 and im totally stressed trying to find a 4k monitor. i have like 500 dollars but i dont even know what hdmi 2.1 is or if i really need it. my logic was just buy whatever looks good but now im reading about hertz and im so lost... what should i get?
I have been using a 4K setup for my console gaming for years and found that HDMI 2.1 is pretty much essential if you want the best experience. It allows for 120Hz at 4K resolution, which is basically what makes the PS5 feel like a next-gen machine. I have been very satisfied with the Gigabyte M28U 28 inch 4K 144Hz Gaming Monitor personally. It fits your budget perfectly and has worked well for me without any real complaints. The performance is very consistent and the high refresh rate is a game changer for shooters or action games. Just make sure whatever you buy explicitly mentions HDMI 2.1 in the specs. Without that, you wont be getting the full 120Hz at 4K. It is a simple tip but it saves a lot of headache... worth the investment for sure.
Finding a good 4K screen for 500 bucks is actually pretty disappointing lately. Most cheaper ones lack the speed you need. Quick question tho, what games do you play most?
I remember unboxing my PS5 and being so confused why my 4K screen looked kinda choppy. It turns out I didnt have the right HDMI port! After testing a bunch of models over the years, these two were definitely the winners:
