ive been stuck on 1080p for ages and finally saved up enough to upgrade before this local apex tourney next weekend. my desk is kinda small so i cant go bigger than 27 inches but i really want that 1440p clarity for long range fights. right now im looking at the gigabyte m27q because the price is solid but then i saw an open box deal on the lg 27gp850-b at my local micro center for basically the same price. the lg is supposedly faster for motion blur but the m27q has that kvm switch which sounds nice since i work from home too. budget is strictly under 300 bucks. which one of these actually feels smoother for fast flicks?

Basically, for competitive shooters like Apex, motion clarity usually wins out. While the Gigabyte M27Q 27-inch 1440p 170Hz IPS is a great value because of that KVM switch for your work setup, the response times on the LG are objectively better for fast motion. Here are the main trade-offs to consider:

  • The LG 27GP850-B 27-inch Ultragear QHD 165Hz/180Hz Nano IPS has faster pixel transitions which reduces ghosting during fast flicks.
  • Gigabyte offers slightly better contrast, but the BGR subpixel layout on some units can make text look a bit fuzzy during work tasks.
  • Micro Center open box deals are usually solid, just check for dead pixels before the weekend. If your priority is performing in that tournament, I would go with the LG. The motion handling feels noticeably tighter when you are tracking targets at high speeds.

Building on the earlier suggestion, the speed vs features debate is really what it comes down to at this price point. Honestly, if you're trying to stay strictly under 300 bucks, you might want to look at a few others that hit a nice middle ground between those two.

  • ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ3A 27-inch 1440p 180Hz is usually around 240 and handles motion really well for Apex.
  • Acer Nitro XV272U V3 27-inch 1440p 180Hz is frequently on sale and is a solid workhorse.
  • Dell G2724D 27-inch 1440p 165Hz has great colors and decent response times. If you're worried about that tourney, prioritizing the refresh rate and response time over the KVM is probably the move. The LG open box is a steal if the panel is clean, but dont overlook the Asus if you want something brand new with a warranty. Just double check your desk depth because some of these stands are kinda big.

^ This. Also, i disagree because a cluttered desk kills focus. The extra utility is massive.

  • what gpu are you running?
  • do you actually notice ghosting? Im happy prioritizing features over speed.
