Whats really the best budget OLED gaming monitor I can actually buy today without spending like two months of rent?? Ive been trying to narrow it down for my new desk setup because I finally upgraded to a 3080 and my old TN panel looks like absolute garbage next to my phone screen lol.

I did a bit of digging and saw the LG 27GR95QE is on sale in some places for like $650 which fits my budget of under 800 bucks but then I keep seeing people complain about the brightness being really low compared to the newer 2024 models. Then there is that AOC Agon one that some reviewers say is a total steal but then I read a bunch of threads saying the firmware is a nightmare and the warranty support is basically nonexistent if something goes wrong with the panel.

Its super confusing cause all the big tech reviewers just talk about the $1200 flagship stuff and I just want something that has those deep blacks for playing Cyberpunk and Alan Wake 2 at night without spending a fortune. Is there some hidden gem I missed or should I just wait for a bigger sale later this year? I really want to pull the trigger this week while I have the extra cash sitting around...

Quick reply while I'm on my break. Look, I've tried many of these over the last couple years and you gotta ignore the brightness drama if you mostly play at night. Cyberpunk looks incredible on basically any OLED because of those infinite blacks, regardless of peak nits. The LG 27GR95QE-B 27" UltraGear OLED 240Hz at $650 is a steal, but if you want that newer tech without the firmware headaches of the AOC, there are better ways to spend your cash. In my experience, these are the best bang-for-buck options right now:

  • MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED 27" 1440p 360Hz
  • This is usually the value king for the 2024 panels and stays right around $750.
  • Alienware AW2725DF 27" QD-OLED 1440p 360Hz
  • Dell has some of the best warranty support for burn-in, which is huge for peace of mind.
  • Gigabyte Aorus FO27Q3 27" 1440p 360Hz OLED
  • Often overlooked but has very solid firmware compared to the budget brands. Seriously, go check the RTINGS side-by-side tool before you buy anything. It lets you compare the actual measured brightness between that LG you saw and the newer QD-OLED stuff. Tbh the warranty is the biggest factor... dont buy a brand that wont back you up on burn-in after a year. MSI and Dell usually give you 3 years of coverage, which matters way more than an extra 50 nits of brightness for night gaming anyway.

  • I actually disagree with the idea of ignoring the brightness levels. In my experience, youll regret a dim panel later because it kinda kills the HDR impact. My recommendation is the MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED E2 27-inch 240Hz for these reasons:
  • Better brightness than the LG
  • Fits the $800 budget
  • Reliable warranty support This is a more cost-effective choice for games like Cyberpunk tho.
