I looked at the LG 27GR95QE but some say the brightness is trash for Valorant. My logic was 1440p helps with long distance heads but now I'm just frustrated because the Zowie 360hz 1080p looks smoother in reviews. I have $600 and need it by Friday for a local tourney, what's actually the fastest 1440p right now?

To add to the point above: unfortunately, 1440p for Val is usually a bit of a trap. I had issues with frame pacing on most 1440p monitors and honestly, it wasnt as good as expected for clicking heads. If you really need that resolution for the tourney, here are a couple options that actually handle the speed:

  • ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQMR 27 inch 1440p 300Hz
  • Easily the fastest 1440p IPS panel right now. The motion clarity is way better than that LG OLED you mentioned, tho the contrast is just okay.
  • MSI G274QPX 27 inch 1440p 240Hz
  • A solid budget pick that punches way above its weight. Not as snappy as the Asus but way brighter than the LG. Tbh, if you want that Friday win, that Zowie XL2566K 24.5 inch 360Hz TN is still the king of clarity even at 1080p. Just something to think about before you drop the cash... Let me know if you want the specific overdrive settings for these.

Re: "To add to the point above: unfortunately, 1440p..." - yeah i gotta agree with that. You might want to consider the performance hit before committing for Friday. Be careful with OLED dimming tho, it gets annoying. I would suggest:

  • ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQMR 27 inch 1440p 300Hz
  • MSI G274QPX 27 inch 1440p 240Hz The MSI is way under budget and super reliable... just make sure you order tonight so it arrives!

Honestly, I had the same logic about 1440p for long range heads in Valorant, but I was pretty disappointed with how most of these panels actually perform in-game. I had major issues with that LG 27GR95QE UltraGear OLED because the dimming was just distracting during fast flicks. Its not as good as people make it out to be for high-stakes play, especially when the brightness tanks mid-round...

  • motion clarity still feels behind the old school TN tech
  • hitting 1440p frames consistently is a struggle even on a beastly rig
  • matte coatings make the game look kinda grainy sometimes Ngl, its a tough spot when you need it by Friday. Are you absolutely set on 1440p for the resolution bump, or is a higher refresh rate the actual priority? Also, what gpu are you using to drive this?
