Ive been grinding Apex since season 0 and finally hit Masters a few splits ago, but honestly my old BenQ 144Hz is starting to feel kinda sluggish lately. I noticed it mostly when Im tracking Octanes or trying to hit those crazy superglides where everything just feels a bit blurry and I lose my target for a split second. Ive been looking into upgrading to a 240Hz panel cause everyone says the jump is worth it for tracking heavy games like this.
Ive done some research on the Zowie XL2546K because of the DyAc tech everyone raves about, but I'm also seeing some newer IPS panels that claim to have 0.5ms response times without the crappy viewing angles of TN. My budget is around $500 or maybe $600 if it's really worth it, and I want to pick something up before the new season drops next month. I’m mostly worried about overshoot and if the fake 0.5ms numbers on these new monitors actually hold up in a fast-paced game where you're constantly flicking your mouse. I also need to make sure the colors arent totally washed out because I still use the monitor for work sometimes.
Whats the consensus right now for the best 240Hz monitor specifically for Apex? Should I stick with Zowie for the motion clarity or are the modern IPS options like the Alienware or ASUS ones good enough now?
Quick follow up... i spent way too much money trying different screens before landing on the ViewSonic Elite XG2431 24-inch 240Hz IPS Gaming Monitor. Its a solid sleeper pick. The PureXP strobing works well for tracking, though the colors take some tweaking. It costs way less than the Zowie stuff which is nice. Basically, you get 95% of the performance for a lot less cash.
Saw this late but honestly the technical specs on newer IPS panels make TN almost obsolete. Actual GtG averages are low enough that tracking in Apex feels smooth without color shift.
