Im finally getting a new monitor this weekend and im so hyped to get rid of my old 1080p screen lol. I was looking at the ASUS PG27AQN since everyone says its the king for 1440p 240hz but then i saw the LG OLED 27GR95QE and my logic was that the near instant response time would be better for Apex. But then i read some stuff about brightness and burn in so now i dont know if i should just stick to IPS for reliability. I got about $750 to drop on this and i need to order it by friday so it gets here for my rank grind. is the OLED worth the risk or is IPS still the way for competitive stuff...
Honestly, I've tried many panels over the years and been through the same struggle between OLED and IPS. In my experience, the motion clarity on that LG UltraGear 27GR95QE-B 27-inch OLED 1440p 240Hz is absolutely unmatched for tracking in Apex, but the dimness is real. I remember setting mine up and being kinda disappointed with how it looked during the day compared to my old bright LCD. Since you mentioned a $750 budget, you could honestly save a massive chunk of change and still get a pro experience. I've used the Gigabyte M27Q X 27-inch 1440p 240Hz for a while and it's basically half the price of the ASUS ROG Swift PG27AQN 27-inch 1440p 360Hz while being super reliable. If you arent a pro making money off the game, that extra $300 is better spent on a better GPU or just kept in your pocket. IPS is just safer for the long grind imo... dont overthink it too much.
Caught this thread a bit late but honestly, if you're worried about burn-in, you should probably just skip OLED for now. I've been through a few panels over the years and for a main grind machine, I always go back to IPS. Apex has so many static HUD elements like the health bar and map that'll just bake into the screen if you're putting in serious hours. Plus, OLEDs can be kinda dim if your room isn't pitch black. Here is what I'd look at for that $750 budget:
