so i finally got a ps5 and im tired of playing on my old 1080p tv that looks super blurry. i been looking around for 4k monitors that can actually do 120hz because whats the point of a ps5 if im stuck at 60 right? i saw a lot of people talking about the gigabyte m28u and how its the best value but then i read some reviews saying the hdr is basically useless and i really want those colors to pop when i play stuff like elden ring. i also looked at the sony inzone m9 since its a sony product but its way more expensive and people say the local dimming is kinda messy with the halos around dark objects.

here is what im looking for:

  • budget around 700 or 800 dollars max
  • has to have hdmi 2.1 for the 120hz stuff
  • size between 27 and 32 inches because my desk is tiny
  • good enough colors for single player games but fast enough for cod

i need to buy something in the next few weeks before i move into my new apartment. is there a sweet spot monitor i missed? i keep seeing the lg ultragear ones too but there are like fifty different models and it gets confusing fast. what are you guys actually using and does the hdr actually look good on it or is it just marketing fluff...

You might want to consider the LG 27GR93U-B 27-inch 4K 144Hz for a solid budget pick. Just be careful though, since hdr wont actually pop on these cheaper ips panels.

Regarding what #1 said about the LG, I was worried about costs so I got the ASUS TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A 28-inch 4K 144Hz for the dual HDMI 2.1 ports. How tiny is your desk tho?

Saw this thread earlier and figured I'd chime in since I went through the same headache last month. @Reply #2 - good point! about the desk space because I almost bought a 42-inch OLED before realizing it would literally hit my face. I ended up grabbing the LG 32GR93U-B 32-inch 4K 144Hz and honestly its been the best purchase for my PS5 setup. I was worried 32 inches might be too big for my small corner desk but it actually fits perfectly and makes Elden Ring look absolutely insane. I am really satisfied with the color accuracy on this thing. I was scared about the marketing fluff too, but once you tweak the settings, it looks great. Here are two quick tips to save you some time:

  • Go into the PS5 screen settings and manually recalibrate the HDR once the monitor is plugged in.
  • Stick with the HDMI 2.1 cable that comes in the box to avoid any flickering issues at 120hz. I managed to snag mine for well under your $800 limit during a sale. It feels like the sweet spot between those super expensive pro screens and the cheap ones that look washed out. If the 32-inch is too much for your desk, the LG 27GR93U-B 27-inch 4K 144Hz is basically the exact same tech just in a smaller frame... worth looking at for sure. I dont think you need to spend a thousand bucks to get a good image tbh.
