im building a 4k rig for december and got 500 bucks for the cpu. i keep seeing the 7800x3d is the goat for gaming but then some reviews say the new 9000 series is better for the long run and its kinda confusing.
honestly what is the actual best amd cpu for high-end gaming in 2024?

In my experience, it is smarter to get the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core 5.0GHz Max Boost when it is on sale. You dont need to pay the early adopter tax for the 9000 series. Put that extra cash toward a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe SSD. Efficiency and stability beat chasing benchmarks... it just makes more sense.

TL;DR: Get the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core 4.2GHz. In my experience, being an early adopter is a headache. I remember picking up a brand new launch years ago that crashed constantly until the fifth firmware update... total nightmare. The 7800X3D is solid, proven, and actually faster for gaming than the 9000 series anyway. Dont risk your build on unproven hype.

Regarding what #1 said about the 7800X3D... im so happy.
- AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core 4.2GHz stayed cool during my build.
- My old AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 12-Core 4.7GHz ran way too hot.
