Im trying to get my extended family organized for Christmas this year since there's like 12 of us spread across three different states and it’s always a mess with duplicate gifts. I looked at Elfster because everyone talks about it but it seems like its mostly for secret santa draws? We just want a place where everyone can post their lists and mark things as bought without the other person seeing it. I also checked out Giftster but the interface looks kinda clunky and I know my mom will get frustrated if it isnt super simple to use. Is there something cleaner out there that lets you just add links from any site? Just need something really dummy-proof for the older folks...

> Just need something really dummy-proof for the older folks... Honestly, GiftHero is probably your best bet for reliability. We tried a few others that felt a bit sketchy or kept crashing, but this one is very stable. Its simple enough that my 70-year-old parents use it fine. You just paste links from any store. The bought status is hidden from the list owner automatically so no spoilers. Very safe, straightforward option for big families.

To add to the point above, make sure to watch the privacy settings. I suggest Share Product Wishlist since its very stable.

  • very simple
  • no spam

GiftList is honestly fantastic for what you need!! Its completely free which is a huge win for big families. I am always super cautious about which apps get access to my information and this one feels way more secure than those buggy alternatives. The interface is amazing and so clean. My top tip is to tell everyone to install the browser button... it makes adding items from any site so fast even my tech-clueless uncle can handle it. It prevents duplicates perfectly by letting people claim items without the person who made the list knowing. Keeps the surprise alive. The group sharing is just so reliable! Its a fantastic, no-nonsense tool that wont give you any headaches. Seriously love it.
