My husband and my two kids are literally driving me crazy because every single time I get home from the store they tell me we are out of eggs or bread or something and I just spent an hour at the Aldi down the street. I need some way to make a list on my computer because I work from home and then have them be able to see it or add to it from their own stuff too so I dont miss anything. I heard people talk about these things called Chrome extensions but honestly I dont really understand what that means or how you even put them on your computer. Is it like a program? I need to figure this out by Friday night because the big weekly shop is Saturday morning and I am tired of making three trips in one weekend. I dont really have a budget for this so it needs to be free or really cheap. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am just really lost with how this works. Can someone explain which one is the easiest to use for someone who isnt good with tech and how do I even share it with my family so they can stop texting me random items at 10pm at night? What is the best chrome extension for sharing a grocery list like that and how do I even start...

Google Keep is probably the best way to handle this. An extension is basically just a little tool you add to your browser. I have used it for years and I am very satisfied with how it keeps everyone on the same page.

  • Search for Google Keep in the Chrome Web Store and click add.
  • Click the collaborator icon to add your family. Everything syncs instantly between your computer and their phones.

@Reply #1 - good point! In my experience, Keep is easiest. Are you looking for simple lists or something with auto-sorting tho? TL;DR: Figure out if you need basic notes or advanced sorting.

Quickly jumping in here because this reminds me so much of my own family disaster last year. I thought I was being smart by setting up a shared system for my teen boys and my husband. I spent hours making sure everything was perfect. But honestly, be careful because if you dont sync things right, you end up with five gallons of milk like I did. I found this tool called Easy Cart Share that lets you share your cart items and quantities in one click, which usually helps, but man... my youngest thought it would be funny to add 50 pounds of gummy bears to the list as a prank. I almost bought them too because I was rushing through the store. It turned into this whole ordeal where I had to return half the trunk. Just make sure you double check what everyone is actually adding before you hit the checkout button or youll be drowning in snacks like I was. It was a total nightmare tbh.
