What should I actually buy for a home office setup because my neck is killing me? I started a remote dev job last month in Chicago and my current posture is honestly a disaster. Ive seen lists suggesting mechanical keyboards and vertical mice, but some people say those just cause different types of wrist pain, and Im already on a tight budget of like 150 bucks for everything. I read a bunch of articles about lap desks but they all seem super flimsy? I just need something that keeps my laptop at eye level without costing a fortune. Does anyone have a setup that doesnt suck, or am I gonna be stuck like this forever...

Been thinking about your neck situation all day. Seriously, don't ignore that pain or itll turn into a long-term problem. I spent years hunched over cheap desks and my shoulders are still paying for it. If you are on a tight budget, you gotta prioritize ergonomics over aesthetics. Skip the lap desks, they are total garbage for posture. You need something solid that forces your spine into a neutral position. Here is what I have found works best when you are on a strict budget:

  • Nulaxy Aluminum Laptop Stand Adjustable
  • This thing is built like a tank. It is sturdy enough that it wont wobble while you type, plus it is way cheaper than the fancy stuff.
  • Logitech MX Master 3S Wireless Mouse
  • Okay, it is a bit pricey, but look for a refurb. The ergonomic shape is a lifesaver for long coding sessions compared to a flat mouse.
  • Keychron K2 V2 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard
  • If you get the stand, you absolutely need an external board. This one is reliable and gives you the tactile feedback you need without the insane cost of custom builds. Honestly, just get that laptop screen to eye level first. Use a stack of books if you have to until the gear arrives. Your neck will thank you once you stop looking down all day. Just take it slow and try one upgrade at a time.

Fix your neck ASAP! Get the Roost Laptop Stand V3 to raise your screen. It is lightweight, sturdy, and totally saved my posture. You'll love it, honestly!
