Ugh, I feel like such a dinosaur asking this but I am seriously struggling. My daughters 6th birthday is coming up in about three weeks and honestly, I am already losing my mind with the family group chat. Every relative in the country is messaging me asking what she wants and I dont even know how to answer them without it being a total mess. I tried just making a list in my notes app and texting it out but then two aunts bought the exact same lego set, which is just a nightmare to return.

So I was thinking there has to be an app for this right? My logic was that someone must have made a registry thing that lets you cross stuff off so people dont duplicate gifts. I looked at Amazon but that felt like way too much stuff and honestly kind of rude to just send a link to a giant store like that? Plus I am on a super tight budget and dont want it to look like Im demanding expensive things. Is there something free and super simple that even my tech-illiterate parents could figure out? Ive been searching for like two hours and I feel like Im just going in circles. Do you guys use anything specific for this or am I just overcomplicating everything...

Oh man, I totally feel your pain. After dealing with the duplicate toy nightmare for years, I finally stopped using the notes app. It is such a headache trying to manage that manually while everyone keeps pinging your phone. Honestly, I found that this wishlist site is the best way to handle it because it is super low-pressure and keeps everything organized without looking like a wedding registry. My go-to setup is simple:

  • Keep the list short so you dont look greedy.
  • Add a mix of price points so relatives have options.
  • Remind them to mark items as purchased so you dont end up with ten copies of the same doll. It saves everyone so much stress and keeps the group chat from exploding. Plus it is free, which is definitely the best part for my budget too.
