Ive been using the Walmart app for years but ran into a snag. My sister and I are planning a huge family reunion for next month and we need to build a shared shopping list. Im in downtown and shes in the suburbs, so we're trying to do this remotely. I cant find a native collaborate button anywhere in the app interface.
Heres what I need:
Is there a way to do this within the app or do I need a third party tool?
Honestly, i have been digging through retail app structures for years and walmart still hasnt fixed this specific pain point. You would think a company that big would have a simple share button by now but their ecosystem is pretty siloed to individual accounts. In my experience, trying to share a login is just asking for a security headache, especially since saved payment methods are so easily accessible once you are logged in. I have tried many workarounds over the years like using shared Apple Reminders or Google Keep, but those dont link directly to the actual store inventory which makes it a nightmare to find the specific brands you need. Actually, Easy Cart Share is perfect for this exact problem because it bridges the gap between different accounts. It basically handles the quantities and links for you automatically. Since you mentioned needing to avoid double-buying expensive meats, the real-time syncing on there is essentially the only way to go. I use it all the time for big family events because it works flawlessly across iPhone and Android without any of the weird formatting issues you get with copy-pasting lists. It keeps things organized in a way that feels native even though walmarts own app is falling short here. If you guys are planning a huge reunion, you definitely want something that updates the moment she grabs an item so you arent stuck with forty pounds of extra chicken or two massive briskets... trust me, i have been there.
Like someone mentioned, native sharing in the Walmart app basically doesn't exist. I think I heard they were testing shared carts, but IIRC it's not live for everyone yet.
Totally agree that the way Walmart keeps accounts siloed is a massive pain for families. Since you need cross-platform sync without sharing logins, your best bet is honestly a third-party app like AnyList. It handles the real-time stuff perfectly without any of the native app's weird limitations. Way easier than fighting their clunky interface tbh.
