Ugh honestly im so over Premiere Pro lately. Every single time I try to use the auto-captioning or the new generative fill stuff it just hangs and then my whole PC freezes and i lose like 20 minutes of work. I'm trying to finish up a client project for a local coffee shop here in Seattle and I've got a hard deadline for Thursday morning. I'm literally ready to ditch Adobe entirely even though I've used them for years because it's just so buggy now. Is there anything out there that actually works for pro level stuff? What are the top AI tools for high-quality video editing that are actually stable?

tbh I feel your pain. I spent years in the Adobe ecosystem before finally snapping during a heavy 4K wedding edit. In my experience, Premiere Pro just hasn't kept up with how modern hardware handles AI processing. I switched to Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Studio 19 about two years ago and the difference in stability is night and day. Their DaVinci Neural Engine is actually optimized for your GPU instead of just tacking on features that bloat the RAM and kill your timeline. I actually benchmarked the VRAM usage and its way more consistent during long renders than Adobes leaky engine. If youre looking for specific tools that wont crash your Seattle project, here is what I use:

  • DaVinci Resolves Magic Mask and AI Voice Isolation are miles ahead. They use dedicated tensor cores on cards like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 24GB GDDR6X to process masks in real-time.
  • For high-end upscaling and noise reduction, I always run my raw coffee shop footage through Topaz Labs Video AI v5.2 before even starting the main cut. It fixes motion blur and adds detail that Premiere just smears.
  • If you need quick generative cleanup, Runway Gen-3 Alpha is my go-to for fill needs. It lives in the cloud so it wont freeze your local machine even when youre generating complex textures. I remember one client shoot where the lighting was a total disaster. I used Resolves AI relighting tool and it saved me about 10 hours of manual masking. Premiere would have choked on the first frame and lost all my progress. Switch now, your sanity is worth the learning curve.
