honestly getting so frustrated with github copilot lately it keeps giving me these weirdly outdated suggestions for my react project and i feel like im spending more time debugging its code than actually writing my own.
my logic was that it would help me clear this backlog for my client in london by friday but its just making things slower. so i was thinking about switching to something else like cursor or maybe tabnine but i dont want to waste more money since my budget is tight right now... maybe under 20 bucks a month. what are you guys actually using to actually speed up? is there something better out there that doesnt hallucinate every five seconds?
I've tried many tools over the years, and Copilot has definitely been slipping lately. In my experience, Cursor AI Code Editor Pro is worth every cent of that 20 dollars.
Man I totally feel your pain with the Copilot hallucinations! I have been coding for over a decade and honestly, when the AI starts fighting you instead of helping, its the worst feeling ever. I actually went through a similar nightmare with a legacy React migration last summer. I spent three days fixing Copilot's bad hooks before I finally snapped and tried Supermaven Pro Code Completion Extension. It was a total game changer for me! The reason it feels so much faster is that they have this massive context window—like a million tokens. It actually remembers what you wrote in a different file ten minutes ago, which is huge for React because everything is so modular. Unlike Copilot which feels like it has short-term memory loss sometimes, this tool just gets the architecture. Plus, the speed is insane. Its almost spooky how fast the suggestions pop up. It really helps when you are on a tight deadline like yours! If you are looking to stay under that 20 buck limit, you should definitely check out Codeium Pro Individual Plan. Its super affordable and the search functionality across your whole repo is fantastic. I found that having the AI actually read my entire project structure stopped those outdated React 16 suggestions from ruining my day. You got this Friday deadline in the bag, just gotta get the right tooling to back you up! Keep pushing, the React ecosystem is a beast but you will get it done... just gotta find that flow state again.
