I moved over to Cursor AI Code Editor Pro a few months back after Copilot kept lagging out on me. Its a decent choice for React stuff. I used it on a site launch recently and the codebase indexing actually worked, unlike the plugin versions. Basically just a VS Code fork, so the transition isnt bad... saved me a lot of time.

I caught myself almost using Copilot again last week and it just hallucinated a whole css framework that doesnt exist. It was hilarious but also annoying as hell lol. If youre looking for speed, i switched over to Codeium Individual Plan for a bit. It felt way snappier than Copilot because they use their own proprietary models instead of just hitting the OpenAI API for every single keystroke. A few others that actually perform well:

  • Sourcegraph Cody AI Pro is a beast for React. It lets you swap between models like Claude 3.5 Sonnet which handles complex hooks way better than GPT-4.
  • Tabnine Pro AI Coding Assistant is solid if you want something that can run locally. Good for avoiding that lag you mentioned.
  • Supermaven is another one with a crazy 1-million-token context window. Basically it remembers your entire project structure without getting confused. Personally i found Sourcegraph Cody AI Pro the most reliable for finishing up front-end work because it actually indexes your local node_modules. No more fake library imports. Its around 20 bucks a month and the context window is large enough that it wont forget your bakery sites component structure halfway through a file. Good luck with the Tuesday deadline, React can be a pain when the AI starts guessing props.

I would suggest you be careful about switching your entire workflow right before a Tuesday deadline; you might want to consider the risk of new bugs being introduced. It reminds me of the time i tried to optimize my kitchen setup for a catering gig. Last month i bought a KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Quart Stand Mixer but i didnt have time to calibrate the settings and ruined the meringue. Anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there.
