Im really stressed about my 4090 build this weekend. Im stuck between the Corsair RM1000e and the Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 since they are both around 180 quid here in London.
I heard some cables melt if you dont get the right ATX 3.0 stuff. Which one is actually safer for a 4090?
In my experience, Be Quiet Pure Power 12 M 1000W 80+ Gold ATX 3.0 provides the best technical value. It'll manage 4090 voltage regulation flawlessly while staying well under your 180 quid budget.
TL;DR: Get the Seasonic. The Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 1000W 80+ Gold ATX 3.0 is way more robust than the Corsair RM1000e 1000W 80+ Gold ATX 3.0, which uses cheaper capacitors imo. Seasonic cables are usually easier to manage too. Just be careful with that 12VHPWR connector; make sure it clicks in completely. If its even slightly loose, thats when you get melting issues.
RM1000e felt kinda cheap unfortunately. Skip both and get:
Regarding what #1 said about the RM1000e capacitors, hes spot on. If you want other options that arent the Seasonic, check these:
