My trusty RM750 finally kicked the bucket after years of service and honestly I havent looked at the PSU market in forever so I'm a bit lost with all these new brands popping up. I'm building this mid-range rig for my nephew's birthday next month and I need a solid 750W unit that wont break the bank because I already blew the budget on an RX 6800. My logic was to just grab whatever was cheap on Amazon but then I started looking at the cultist tier list and got overwhelmed lol. I'm trying to stay under 90 bucks if possible. Is the Corsair RMe series actually good or is it just loud? Or maybe that Thermaltake GF1? Just need something reliable that isnt gonna fry the whole system in a week...
Catching up on this. It is honestly frustrating how hard it is to find a truly high-end unit under $90 these days. To add to the point above: the RMe units are okay, but they use lower-quality capacitors compared to the old RMx series, which is a real letdown for the price they ask. I have seen way too many people complaining about coil whine on those lately too. If you are already looking at the cultist list, definitely cross-reference with Cybenetics labs. They provide much better data on noise levels and actual efficiency curves than the standard 80 Plus stickers. Sometimes the big brands coast on their reputation while the internals get cheaper.
honestly I went through this exact headache last year. Picked up the Corsair RM750e 750W 80+ Gold Fully Modular and tbh its been great for my daily gaming. No complaints at all.
