I finally got my hands on an RTX 4090 for my new rendering rig but now I'm stuck on the PSU choice. I'm looking at the Corsair RM1000x Shift and the MSI MPG A1000G PCIE5 since they both have that new 12VHPWR connector but I'm worried about the Shift's side-mounted cables fitting in my Lian Li case. I need to get this ordered tonight so it arrives by the weekend because I have a huge deadline on Monday.
The MSI is a bit cheaper but the Corsair brand feels safer somehow... which one should I go with if I'm planning to push this thing 24/7?
> I'm worried about the Shift's side-mounted cables fitting in my Lian Li case. Honestly, if you're doing 24/7 rendering, you really gotta be careful about those 12VHPWR cables. They're super sensitive to bends. I've seen way too many people jam those things in tight spaces and end up with melted connectors... definitely not something you want with a card that expensive. If you're worried about the side-mount not fitting your specific case, just dont risk it. Clearance is everything for safety and keeping things cool. The MSI unit is actually a decent option since it's native ATX 3.0 and the layout is more traditional. I went with a similar setup for my last rendering build because I didn't want to fight the side panels or stress the cables. Just make sure the power cable is seated all the way until it clicks. It sounds simple but that's where most people mess up. You've got this!
