Built like ten rigs over the years but this current mini-ITX project is giving me such a headache. My old SFX unit just crapped out after only six months and now I'm getting constant reboots under load. I need a replacement that isnt gonna blow up or have insane coil whine because the PC sits right on my desk.

  • SFX or SFX-L (pref regular SFX for cable space)
  • 750W minimum for a 3080
  • Budget is around 170 bucks
  • Needs to be quiet

I'm in Chicago so I can hit Microcenter if they have stock but I need this thing fixed by Tuesday for a stream. Every review I read says something different about reliability and I'm just over it...

Regarding what #2 said about high-density testing, those units are great. But if Microcenters sold out, check:

  • EVGA SuperNOVA 850 GM 80 Plus Gold SFX Its cheaper and handles 3080 transient spikes fine.

Totally agree, the reliability lottery is a nightmare. In my experience, high-draw builds really need that extra safety margin from premium units. TL;DR: dont settle for mediocre platforms.

Just saw this. In my experience testing high-density builds, the Corsair SF750 80 Plus Platinum SFX is basically unbeatable for ripple suppression and noise. It handles 3080 transient spikes without breaking a sweat. If youre hitting Microcenter, look for:

  • Cooler Master V850 SFX Gold 80 Plus Gold
  • SilverStone SX750-PT 750W Platinum SFX The Corsair is usually the quietest under load tho.
