Im honestly so fed up with these manufacturers labeling things as 'white' when they arrive and look like industrial silver or grey concrete... it literally ruins the look of my Lian Li build and I'm ready to just return everything and start over. I need a legit white Z790 board that actually looks clean and can handle my 14900k without melting.

Requirements:

  • true white color or heavy shrouding
  • around $450 budget max
  • good ddr5 stability for 7200mhz
  • built in wifi 6e or better

im trying to get this finished by next weekend for my stream so any real world suggestions would be great because the stock photos are total lies...

I totally get the frustration with silver boards, it's honestly disappointing how misleading those renders are. Most high-end options are just brushed aluminum. If you want a legit white PCB that handles 7200mhz without breaking the bank, the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX ICE DDR5 is basically your only real shot under $300. It's way cheaper than overhyped silver boards and looks clean in a Lian Li build.

> the stock photos are total lies... I swapped to the NZXT N7 Z790 White DDR5 recently because that matte cover is actually white. The ASUS ROG Strix Z790-A Gaming WiFi II DDR5 has better power phases tho.

Saw this earlier but just getting home and man I feel your pain. I spent way too much money trying to get a true white build only to realize most of these brands use the same brushed aluminum that looks light grey under LEDs. It is honestly frustrating when you are spending $400 plus on a motherboard and it ruins the theme you worked so hard on. Unfortunately if you want something that is actually white and not metallic your options are basically non-existent unless you go with the NZXT N7 Z790 White. It has those full metal covers that hide the ugly black PCB and looks super clean in a Lian Li case. But here is the catch... I had issues with their BIOS when trying to push high memory speeds. Getting 7200mhz stable on that board with a 14900k can be a total nightmare tbh. It is gorgeous but the performance just isnt as good as expected for a high-end setup like yours. If you can handle a little bit of silver to get the actual performance you need maybe check out the MSI MPG Z790 EDGE TI MAX WIFI. It handles high speed RAM way better than the NZXT. It is not perfectly white but it is very bright and has WiFi 7. I have used it in a few builds and it holds up well though the MSI software is kinda clunky and annoying to deal with. Just make sure you get the MAX version for the better power delivery. Good luck with the stream, hope you get it sorted!
