I'm freaking out a bit because I need to buy a monitor for my brothers PS5 by Saturday and I have absolutely no clue what I am looking at. I went to the store and the guy was talking about HDMI 2.1 and refresh rates and my brain just kind of melted. I just want the games to look pretty and not be laggy when he plays online.
Does anyone have a specific model they use? I dont want to waste money on something that wont even work right...
Check out Rtings.com for the best testing data out there! Honestly, just get the Dell G2724D 27 inch QHD 165Hz Gaming Monitor. It's an absolute beast for the price, usually around $300! Since PS5 supports 1440p now, everything looks amazing and runs super smooth at 120Hz. It's way cheaper than those fancy 4K screens and setup is basically plug-and-play. Love it!
> I just want the games to look pretty and not be laggy Quick question tho, does he play fast competitive shooters or mostly story games? I am really satisfied with the Gigabyte M28U 28 inch 4K 144Hz Gaming Monitor because it handles 4K at 120Hz perfectly. Basically, the PS5 needs HDMI 2.1 to push those high graphics while keeping things smooth. If the monitor doesnt have that specific tech, the games wont look as crisp or run as fast.
Over the years, I've tried many displays and honestly, if you just get any 4K screen from LG or Gigabyte, you're golden. Just make sure it specifically says HDMI 2.1 on the packaging so you get that smooth motion. In my experience, those brands have the easiest menus to navigate. Stick to those and he will be thrilled. Dont overthink the technical stuff too much, its mostly plug and play.
