Honestly so fed up with my old 1080p monitor right now, it looks like a blurry mess whenever I try to play some Horizon Forbidden West and I just cant take it anymore. Im super excited to actually see the PS5 potential but everything I buy ends up being a total headache with screen tearing or input lag. I need something that actually handles 120Hz properly because my current setup is basically just a glorified paperweight at this point.

Im looking for a solid 4K monitor and I have a few things I really need it to do:

  • Needs HDMI 2.1 support obviously so I can actually hit those higher frame rates.
  • Budget is around 600-700 bucks max, I really dont want to spend a fortune but I want it to look good.
  • 27 to 32 inches works best for my desk setup since I live in a tiny apartment in Chicago and space is a nightmare.
  • Decent HDR would be nice but honestly just a crisp image that doesnt ghost would be a miracle.

I need to get this sorted by next week because Im off work and just want to grind some games without staring at pixels. Does anyone have a monitor they actually like for the console that wont break the bank or act up?

Been thinking about your setup since I saw this earlier. Finding a decent HDMI 2.1 display under 700 bucks is tight but totally doable. If you have the desk space, 32 inches is way better for immersion, tho 27 is fine for a cramped apartment.

  • Gigabyte M28U 28-inch 4K 144Hz IPS is a solid reliable choice. It handles 120Hz on PS5 without any fuss and the KVM switch is a nice bonus if you have a laptop too. Colors are decent, but dont expect mind-blowing HDR.
  • LG 32GR93U-B 32-inch 4K 144Hz IPS is another beast. The extra screen real estate is noticeable. It stays pretty snappy with motion, so you wont deal with that ghosting nightmare you mentioned. Honestly, just make sure you use a legit high-speed HDMI cable. Some cheap ones cause weird handshake issues with the PS5, which is just a headache you dont need.

Coming back to this, I think I have a solid suggestion that saved me some cash. I was stressing over the same budget last year, but honestly, you dont need to overspend to get that 120Hz smoothness. I ended up picking up the LG 27GP950-B 27-inch 4K 144Hz Nano IPS and honestly? Im super happy with it. The colors pop, and since I also live in a tiny place, the 27-inch size is perfect.

  • It handles HDMI 2.1 perfectly for PS5.
  • The response time is snappy, so no weird ghosting during intense battles.
  • Usually goes on sale, so check around before you drop your full budget. Honestly, it just works. I havent had any headaches with input lag, and the image is sharp enough that you wont even miss your old screen. Save that extra money for a few new titles instead.

I totally feel your pain, man. Moving from 1080p to 4K on the PS5 was honestly like taking off a blindfold for me. My apartment is tiny too, so I went with a 27-inch screen and it fits perfectly on my desk without feeling like it's eating the whole room. Just be careful with those budget panels that claim HDMI 2.1 support, because some of them actually limit your bandwidth or have weird flickering issues.

  • Stick to reputable brands that specifically mention VRR support.
  • Dont get lured by high HDR marketing numbers if the panel brightness is low.
  • Check for actual full-bandwidth ports so you dont get stuck at 60Hz. I am honestly so satisfied with my current setup. It makes games look sharp and smooth, and I havent had any ghosting since I made the switch.
