im honestly so fed up with my current setup right now, Premiere keeps freezing up every single time I try to timeline scrub my 4K drone footage and its driving me crazy. ive got a shoot coming up next month in Chicago and I cant be sitting around waiting ten minutes for a simple render to finish. my old i7 is just completely dying under the load and im ready to smash my desk. whats the actual best Intel CPU to grab right now for heavy 4K editing without having to take out a second mortgage? looking to spend around 400 to 500 max for the chip itself...

man timeline scrubbing 4k drone clips is so stressful when deadlines are close. are you planning to reuse your current motherboard and ram, or are you factoring those into that 400 to 500 budget too?

  • Intel Core i5-13600K fits right in that price range and handles heavy timelines without breaking the bank
  • look for bundle deals at micro center if you have one nearby to save cash

Before you buy anything, what power supply and cooler are you running right now? Those chips draw crazy power and stability is everything for client work. Check out the Intel Core i7-14700K 20-Core if your cooling can handle it, or stick to the Intel Core i5-14600K 14-Core to stay safe on thermals.

  • man I feel your pain so hard right now, timeline scrubbing heavy 4K footage on an old chip is pure torture!
  • I upgraded my rig a few months ago after losing my mind over endless freezing and crashing during a client project... absolute nightmare stuff.
  • when I finally made the jump to a modern CPU with integrated graphics, QuickSync totally saved my life. Export times dropped from eternity to literally minutes. Honestly, getting something with solid core counts in that price range is gonna blow your mind compared to what you're running now. Hang in there man!

> Intel Core i5-13600K fits right in that price range Unfortunately, while that chip is fine, you'd really be better off stretching slightly for the Intel Core i7-14700K 20-Core to get those extra efficiency cores for Premiere.
