Thanksgiving is coming up fast and my family is already badgering me for my kids' Christmas lists. I need to get this sorted like yesterday because last year was a disaster with duplicate gifts. I looked at Elfster but it seems super geared towards Secret Santa exchanges which we arent doing, we just want a master list. Then I saw Giftsprout but the reviews say the mobile app is incredibly glitchy and half my family is older and tech-challenged so it needs to be dead simple.

What is the best app for just sharing basic wishlists where people can claim items without the list owner seeing?

In my experience, most of these apps are way too cluttered with social features you dont actually need. Ive tried many over the years and keep coming back to MyRegistry. Its definitely the most reliable one out there for families who arent tech-savvy.

  • very simple interface
  • easy for people to claim gifts
  • works on any device Just stick with anything from MyRegistry and you will be fine.

@Reply #2 - good point! Giftster really is great for privacy, but in my experience, some of these platforms end up getting super cluttered with ads, which completely confuses my older relatives. Just catching up on this thread and wanted to ask a couple of quick things to narrow this down. Are you looking for something that is completely free with zero ads, or would you be open to a paid option if it meant a cleaner interface for the grandparents? Also, how do you plan on adding the items? Do you need a browser extension that grabs details automatically, or are you fine just copy-pasting links manually? If you want to keep things budget-friendly, I usually suggest this free wishlist creator because it keeps the spam to a minimum and is pretty dummy-proof.

We ended up using Giftster last year because my family is super paranoid about online privacy. It worked well and we had no complaints. Here is why it felt safe:

  • Private groups so randoms cant see kids' info
  • Simple claim button that hides it from the list owner You should check out Share Product Wishlist if you want an easy way to compile things from Amazon and Target in one spot.
