How do you suggest gift ideas without appearing demanding?

Im getting so frustrated because my birthday is coming up in three weeks and my family keeps asking what I want, but every time I suggest something, they act like it is too much effort or not what they had in mind. I searched online and found a bunch of blogs saying I should just make an Amazon wishlist, but honestly that feels super tacky for a family dinner in Ohio and I dont want to look like Im demanding stuff from them. Other people suggest just telling them specific brands, but I feel like thats just as bad? I have a budget of around 50 bucks for a nice coffee machine or maybe a specific set of kitchen knives I really need for my new apartment, but everytime I bring it up I feel like a brat. I just want to make it easier for them so they dont end up buying me another generic gift card I wont use. How do I actually guide people toward stuff I could really use without sounding like a total nightmare?

Honestly, stop feeling like a brat for wanting stuff you actually need for your place. When I moved into my first apartment, I just started sending people links to specific items and saying, hey, I'm trying to save up for this and it would be a huge help if you wanted to contribute. Most people actually appreciate the direction because buying gifts is stressful for them too. For the kitchen knives, look into Victorinox Fibrox, they're like 40-50 bucks and basically bulletproof. Just be casual about it. I've been using Share Product Wishlist lately to organize my kids' holiday requests and it's been such a lifesaver Share Product Wishlist.
