What is actually the best 1440p monitor for competitive FPS games right now if I care about motion clarity over everything else? I'm finally making the jump from 1080p and honestly its a bit overwhelming with all the options out there. I've been looking at the ASUS PG27AQN since everyone says that 360Hz refresh rate is the gold standard for shooters but then I see people raving about the LG OLED 240Hz models because the response times are basically instant. Im kinda torn because I have about $850 saved up and I want to buy something by the end of the week but I dont want to regret getting an IPS panel if OLED is actually the better choice for seeing players clearly while flicking. Does the 360Hz actually feel smoother than the OLED motion in real world play for games like Valorant or Apex? I play on a pretty high sensitivity and move my mouse a ton so ghosting is my biggest enemy. Im in the US so I can get most things from Best Buy or Amazon but the stock is always so hit or miss on the high end stuff. Should I just go for the raw speed of the IPS or is the OLED actually the play for competitive...

Honestly, the OLED motion clarity is just on another level compared to any IPS panel I have ever used. It feels way smoother even with the lower refresh rate. After switching to the LG UltraGear 27GR95QE-B 27-inch OLED 1440p 240Hz, I am totally satisfied with the jump. The pixel response times are basically instant, so when you are flicking in Apex or Valorant, there is zero blur or ghosting behind enemies. It actually looks clearer than my old 360Hz IPS monitor ever did. People also rave about the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM 27-inch 1440p 240Hz if you want more brightness, but the LG has been solid for me. If ghosting is your biggest enemy, OLED is 100% the play. You wont regret it once you see how clean everything looks during high-speed movements... it's kinda life changing for competitive stuff.

- I have to say I totally agree! I was actually pretty nervous about making the jump because I'm usually the type to play it safe with older tech, but man, I love it so much! The motion clarity on these panels is just amazing... like actually mind-blowing compared to even the best IPS stuff. If you want a reliable pick that performs like a beast, you really gotta look at the LG 27GR95QE-B 27-inch UltraGear OLED 240Hz. It usually sits right around $750-800 so it fits your budget perfectly! Another fantastic one is the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM 240Hz. Honestly, the instant response times mean 240Hz OLED looks way clearer than 360Hz IPS when you're flicking in Apex. It feels like cheating sometimes lol. Just use the pixel cleaning features so you dont have to worry about anything and you're golden!

To add to the point above: OLED is definitely the play for clarity. If you look at the LG 27GR95QE-B 27 inch OLED 1440p 240Hz, it fits your budget pretty well. Quick tip tho... update the firmware as soon as you unbox it to fix some brightness issues. Also, make sure your desk is deep enough because that stand is kinda huge. It works great once calibrated.
