I'm looking to upgrade because my current rig keeps lagging during 4K playback in Premiere Pro. I need something with at least 32GB of RAM and a color-accurate display for color grading. My budget is around $2,500. Should I go with the latest MacBook Pro or a high-end Windows alternative like the Dell XPS?

In my experience, the Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch M3 Pro 36GB RAM 512GB SSD ($2,399) beats the Dell XPS 16 9640 Core Ultra 7 32GB RAM. Better encoders! TL;DR: Apple silicon wins for Premiere.

Ngl, I've had issues with XPS thermals before, so grab the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) GA605 with 32GB RAM and RTX 4070 because its OLED is basically perfect for grading.

Man I wish I found this thread sooner. Would have saved me so much hassle.
