Ive been working in Illustrator and After Effects for years on my old 2017 MacBook Pro, but lately its just been crawling whenever I have more than two projects open. It literally sounds like a jet engine is gonna take off from my desk if I try to render anything complex. I need something that can actually handle heavy masking and motion graphics without stuttering every five seconds. Im based in Chicago and looking to pick something up in the next couple weeks before I start this big branding project for a local client. Budget is around 2500 bucks, maybe 3000 if the performance gains are actually worth it. Ive heard mixed things about the newer M3 chips versus going with a high-spec Windows machine like a Razer Blade or maybe the XPS line, but I really dont want to deal with driver headaches while I'm on a deadline. Do I stick with Mac for the color accuracy or is there a solid Windows rig that wont crash Premiere every time I scrub the timeline?
Coming back to this, are you actually outputting high-bitrate video or just doing motion graphics for branding? If you dont need maxed out cores, you could save a grand and get a Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch M3 Pro 12-core CPU 18-core GPU 36GB RAM.
Honestly, stick with Mac for the Adobe suite. Dealing with Windows driver issues during a deadline is a nightmare you dont need. Over the years, I have tried many rigs, but the Apple silicon is just superior for After Effects stability.
