Honestly im just so fed up with my current setup. Every time I try to scrub through 4K footage in Premiere Pro it just hangs and crashes and I end up staring at the spinning wheel for like ten minutes straight. Im working on a big project due next month and this constant stuttering is driving me absolutely insane. My budget is around 800 bucks and I need something that can actually handle the workload without melting my pc. Should I be looking at a 4070 Ti or is it worth trying to hunt down a used 3090 instead? Im in the US and just need this to work so I can finish my video...
To add to the point above: are you using proxies? Seriously, even a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB GDDR6X struggles if your drive speeds are slow. Whats your current storage setup?
Honestly, skip the used market headache. I have been editing 4K for years and stability is everything when you are on a deadline. The used 3090s are risky since you dont know how hard they were pushed for mining or rendering. Stick with a new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB GDDR6X. In my experience, the newer architecture handles the codecs much better and the power efficiency is way ahead of the older cards. You really dont want a random crash mid-export when that deadline hits. Also, check your ram setup. Having a solid card is great, but premiere just eats memory for breakfast, so try to have at least 32gb or 64gb if you can manage it. Just get the new card and save yourself the stress.
