What is the absolute best graphics card I should get if I want to play games at 1440p and 144Hz?
Sorry if this is a super basic question but I am completely new to PC building and all these numbers are giving me a headache. I just bought a new 1440p 144Hz monitor last week because it was on sale, but my old prebuilt computer is chugging so bad now. I want to build a fresh one but I have no idea where to start with the GPU.
My budget is around $500 to $600 max just for the graphics card. I live near a Micro Center in Ohio so I can buy it there. I mainly want to play stuff like:
I dont need ultra settings on everything, just want it to run smooth without stuttering. Should I look at Nvidia or AMD? People keep saying different things and I am just confused.
In my experience:
Building on the earlier suggestion, I actually grabbed an open-box PowerColor Fighter AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT 12GB at the Columbus Micro Center last month! Saved me a ton of cash and it runs super cool and stable. Tbh, you don't even need to max out your $600 budget. Micro Center has amazing open-box deals on the Gigabyte Radeon RX 7800 XT Gaming OC 16GB too. Going open-box is fantastic for saving money while getting a reliable, fully inspected card!
I love saving cash on builds! Honestly, my first build was all about safety, so I drove through a massive blizzard just to buy a heavy-duty surge protector. It was terrifying! Anyway lol...
