Im so sick of reading conflicting reviews. Everyone swears by the 7800X3D for gaming but then I see folks claiming the 7950X3D is way better for 4K since it handles background tasks too? Im building this rig in London for a 4K living room setup, budget isnt a huge issue, but what actually matters for gaming?
^ This. Also, if you run heavy streaming software in the background, grab the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core 4.2GHz for those extra threads. It is absolutely amazing for multitasking!
^ This. Also, consider that at 4K, the GPU does the heavy lifting. The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core 4.2GHz is plenty efficient for gaming loads.
Honestly, just get the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core 4.2GHz. I was tossing up the same thing, but for pure 4K gaming, the extra cores on the 7950X3D are totally wasted. I run my setup with a 4090 and it works perfectly. No complaints at all with frame rates. Save your money and just put it towards a better GPU or more storage instead, its the smarter move.
