Building a new rig next month and honestly kinda stuck on the CPU choice. Ive always gone with team blue for my high-end builds in Toronto, but 2024 is getting weird with all the power draw and stability news flying around. I need something that wont bottleneck a 4090 at 4K. Heres my deal:
Should I just grab a 14700K or wait to see what drops next, or is the 14900K actually worth the extra cash right now...
Tbh id be really careful going with high end intel right now given all the microcode drama thats been happening. Since you are in Toronto and running a 4090, you really dont want random game crashes ruining streams. If you are dead set on team blue, the Intel Core i7-14700K 20-Core is probably the ceiling of what you should touch, but make sure to update your bios the second you boot it up to avoid voltage issues. That said, at 4K your GPU is doing 90 percent of the heavy lifting anyway. You might want to consider just grabbing the Intel Core i5-14600K 14-Core to save some cash for your other parts, since it barely trails the i7 in actual gaming frames. Just keep an eye on temps!

Honestly id skip the current intel stuff right now. The Intel Core i7-14700K runs way too hot and unfortunately Ive had issues with stability on my mates rig. Grab an AMD chip instead.
