What is the best website for creating a digital Christmas wishlist?

I have been doing the whole digital wishlist thing since like 2012 and it feels like every year the options just get worse and more bloated with ads. I used to swear by Elfster but honestly the interface is such a mess now and the mobile browser experience is absolute trash for my parents who refuse to download another app on their phones. I spent like three hours last night trying to get a simple Etsy link to scrape properly on Giftful and it just wouldnt pull the image or the price correctly and just left a blank gray box which looks so cheap. Im trying to organize the secret santa for my extended family this year—we have about 15 people spread out between Chicago and Florida—and I need something that actually works without me having to play tech support for my aunts all day on Christmas Eve. Budget is tight for everyone this year so I really need something with a solid price tracker or at least a way to show when something goes on sale because nobody is paying full price for kitchen gadgets in this economy lol.

My requirements are pretty specific since Ive tried almost everything at this point:

  • Must have a browser extension or a way to 'share to' from a phone that actually captures the item data
  • Zero mandatory app downloads for guests because my dad will literally just give up and buy me socks again
  • Ability to mark things as purchased anonymously so we dont get duplicates
  • No aggressive tracking or selling our data to third party advertisers
  • Needs to handle links from small boutique sites not just the big giants like Amazon or Target

Does anyone have a hidden gem that isnt just one of the big three? GiftHero used to be okay but it feels abandoned lately and I really dont want to deal with another broken script or a site that crashes the moment five people are on it at once. Im honestly about to just make a shared Google Doc but that is such a nightmare to manage with pictures and links and keeping things secret is impossible... any ideas?

> Im honestly about to just make a shared Google Doc but that is such a nightmare to manage with pictures and links and keeping things secret is impossible... Ugh, I totally get it. It’s so disappointing how these platforms have basically given up on user experience. Unfortunately, I had issues with almost every site you mentioned last year—Giftful was especially bad at scraping boutique links and it just felt so messy. It’s definitely not as good as expected compared to how things used to be back in 2012. You should definitely check out Giftster. It’s been a much better experience for my family because it doesn't force anyone to download an app and it actually handles smaller shop links properly. It manages the anonymous marking perfectly so no duplicates happen. It’s such a relief to find something that isn't just a giant ad for Amazon. Good luck with the secret santa, organizing 15 people is a huge task!

TL;DR: Stick to tools with universal bookmarklets to skip the app drama. To add to the point above: I spent ages testing these for a massive family reunion last year. Honestly, Giftster was the only one that didnt choke on weird boutique links or Etsy listings. It doesnt force your aunts to download anything, and the mark as bought feature is actually anonymous. Its basically a way more stable version of what GiftHero used to be.
