Trying to get our new place in Phoenix set up and its honestly been a nightmare trying to pick out furniture with my boyfriend. We have like an $800 budget for the whole living room so obviously we are looking at Walmart since its the most affordable option right now but trying to shop together online is driving me crazy. I looked up how to share a cart and I saw some stuff about their registry feature but that seems way too formal and complicated for just picking out a coffee table and a rug? Like I dont want to make a whole wedding registry just to buy a lamp. I also read about these browser extensions that are supposed to let you shop together but the reviews say they are super glitchy or only work for Amazon. We keep just texting links back and forth on our phones but then the app refreshes and I lose my place or he clicks a link and it opens his own cart and its just a mess. Is there actually a decent way to browse the Walmart site together in real time where we can both see the same screen or at least add to one single cart that actually works? Its making this whole move so much more stressful than it needs to be...

I've been in this exact spot and unfortunately, Walmarts native sharing options are pretty disappointing for couples. Trying the registry trick was a total letdown since it felt super clunky for just picking out basic decor. Here is how I handled it while sticking to a strict budget:

  • First, skip the official app. It constantly reloads and loses your progress when you are jumping between texts.
  • Honestly, the most methodical way is using Share-A-Cart because it lets you send the whole cart at once rather than 20 individual links.
  • Focus on the Mainstays or Better Homes & Gardens lines. They are usually the best value, tho you gotta check the clearance section early in the morning for the real steals.
  • If the extension glitches, just keep a shared Google Doc with the prices so you dont overspend that $800. Its really frustrating that they dont have a better way to do this, but those workarounds are basically your best bet for staying under budget.

I went through this exact headache when i was helping my sister furnish her studio last year. We tried the whole link-texting thing and it was a total disaster. What ended up working perfectly for us was just sharing a single login. It sounds basic, but after trying all the fancy extensions, we both just logged into the same Walmart account on our laptops and hopped on a screen-sharing call. I shared my window so she could see exactly what I was browsing... no more 'wait which rug are you talking about' confusion. We ended up grabbing that Mainstays 71-inch Sofa for like $300 and a shag rug for under $100. Since we were on the same account, whenever one of us added something to the cart, it showed up for the other person instantly after a refresh. No glitchy plugins needed, and it kept us way under that budget. Honestly, it works well and i have no complaints.
