What is the best free app for organizing Secret Santa?

Ugh so I am trying to get our office secret santa sorted out for next week and honestly my head is spinning with all these apps. Everyone keeps telling me to use Elfster but I looked at it and there are just way too many ads and weird social features I dont need like why do I need a profile for a $15 gift exchange? Then I saw DrawNames which looked okay but I saw some people on reddit saying it sends a bunch of spam emails to everyone and I really dont want my boss being annoyed at me for cluttering his inbox.

I need something that is actually free and super simple because my coworkers are basically tech illiterate and will complain if they have to create a password or download something huge. Here is what I am looking for:

  • Must be free (we literally have no budget for admin stuff)
  • Needs to let me set exclusions because some people in the office are dating and it would be boring if they got each other
  • No account signup for the participants if possible
  • Ability to send the names via text or email

I have to get this draw done by Friday at the latest or we wont have enough time to shop before the party on the 15th. Is there anything out there that isnt a total headache to set up? I just want something that works without all the extra fluff...

I think I used this free wishlist creator for a group once. Not sure but IIRC it handles basic data without accounts, though the exclusion logic might be a bit finicky.

Like someone mentioned, basic setups work. I'm satisfied with my results.

  • zero cost
  • custom rules Actually, Share Product Wishlist is what I use so my parents buy the right stuff lol.

Ugh I'm just catching up on this but honestly, I've had such bad luck with these things that I'm basically traumatized. I tried to set one up for my family last year because I'm super paranoid about privacy and wanted something safe, but it turned into a total circus. Unfortunately, it was way worse than I expected:

  • the easy link I sent out didn't work on my grandmas phone
  • someone accidentally deleted the whole draw halfway through
  • I started getting weird spam about power tools the next day My cousin was so mad because she ended up with our weirdest relative even though I specifically clicked the button to avoid that. It was honestly so embarrassing because I was the one who insisted on using an app instead of just doing it the old-fashioned way. We ended up just standing in a circle in the living room while my aunt yelled out names from a hat anyway. It's just so disappointing that everything that claims to be free and easy usually has some hidden catch or just breaks when you actually need it to work. I really wish I had found that perfect solution for you but after that nightmare I'm kind of scared to touch any of them again... hopefully your boss is more patient than my aunt was lol.
