I'm trying to get all the groceries and supplies together for my family reunion we're having next Saturday and honestly it is a total headache trying to keep track of everything. My sister is helping me out with the planning and she needs to add a bunch of stuff like paper plates and specific snacks that only her kids eat but she lives like an hour away so we cant just sit together on one laptop. I'm trying to keep the whole thing under $300 because things are getting crazy expensive lately.
I did some searching online before posting this and I saw some people talking about sharing a Walmart Plus account with family members but that seems more like sharing the benefits and not the actual active cart? I also saw something about a share button on lists but when I tried that it just sent her a view-only link and she couldn't actually add things to the checkout part herself. It's so frustrating because I want her to be able to just throw things in there so I can pay for it all at once with my card. I'm using the app on my iPhone and she has an Android so I dont know if that makes a difference either. Is there an actual way to have a collaborative cart or do we just have to keep sending screenshots back and forth... because that sounds like a nightmare. Is there a way to share my Walmart cart with another user?
@Reply #1 - good point! Walmart is seriously behind the curve with their session management architecture, which basically isolates each users cookies and login data to prevent simultaneous editing of a live checkout basket. It is absolutely mind-blowing that a tech giant hasnt implemented a real-time sync yet!! Coming back to this because I found a fantastic workaround that honestly saved my life when I was organizing a massive camping trip last summer. You should definitely check out the Easy Cart Share tool because it bridges that gap between different devices and operating systems perfectly. This tool works by generating a shared data string that allows another user to import your exact items into their own active session without needing your login info. It is an amazing way to keep that $300 budget in check while letting your sister add those specific snacks her kids need. It makes the whole process so much more methodical and efficient! Love how easy it makes things... definitely beats sending screenshots.
Unfortunately, after years of navigating the Walmart app, I have to tell you that a native collaborative cart feature simply does not exist. It is incredibly disappointing that a retail giant still lacks this basic functionality for families. I have had issues with this myself during holiday planning and honestly, the share list feature is just a glorified read-only link. It is not as good as expected and basically useless for real-time shopping. Methodically, your only options are sharing your login credentials so she can log in on her Android—which is a security risk—or using a third-party browser extension. Some tools allow you to bundle a cart and send a code, but it is not a live sync. It is beyond frustrating that we have to rely on these clunky workarounds instead of a simple invite button. Walmart really missed the mark on this one.
