My husband and I are prepping for a huge BBQ this Saturday but keep doubling up on items. Im torn between sharing my login or just texting links back and forth, or maybe a separate list app, but it's a mess and we have a strict $300 budget.

Is it possible to just sync our two separate carts?

Walmart lacks native sync APIs. Im satisfied using this walmart cart share extension tho. Works well for:

  • JSON mirroring
  • Session token sharing Definitely worth trying!

^ This. Also, summarizing the advice, sharing a login or using that extension are the best paths since Walmart lacks a native multi-user sync engine. In my experience, sharing a login is actually the most reliable way to stay under budget. I've tried many workarounds, but just remember to refresh the page often so the session state updates... dont want to accidentally double up on items!

Honestly, Ive had so many issues with Walmarts session cookies when trying to share a single account. Its not as reliable as people think because the server-side sync is kinda slow and buggy. Before I dive deeper into the tech side, are you guys planning on doing a delivery or a scheduled pickup? It makes a huge difference in how the cart handles real-time stock and pricing. A few warnings if you decide to go the shared login route:

  • The session can timeout randomly and you might lose the last few items added
  • If you both hit add to cart at the same time on different phones, the database often glitches and only registers one
  • Prices change based on which local store the app thinks you're at, so using a Walmart price tracker is pretty much mandatory to stay under that $300 budget Its super disappointing that a company this big doesnt have a proper collab feature. Personally, I wouldnt trust those third-party extensions because they usually have access to your browsing data and its just not worth the risk for some BBQ ribs.

I totally agree with your idea of sharing the login, honestly its the best way to go. Walmart doesnt have a native sync feature for two different accounts yet which is annoying, but sharing one login works well and keeps everything in one place. I've been doing this for our big party prep for ages and I'm super satisfied with how easy it is to track the budget. The only little thing I'd add is to make sure you both refresh the app before adding stuff so you're seeing the most current total. It’s way better than texting links... that just leads to buying two of everything lol. Seriously tho, sticking to one login is the way to stay under that $300 limit. No complaints from me since we started doing it that way. It really makes the whole process way smoother.
