im honestly so fed up with our family gift exchanges at this point. every single christmas my sister and i end up buying the exact same sweater or book for our mom because nobody communicates and its driving me crazy wasting money on duplicates. we need a better system before the holidays hit us in december since our budget is around fifty bucks per person. heres what we need:

  • under fifty dollar limit
  • no secret santas because people hate them
  • easy enough for tech illiterate grandparents

how do you guys actually coordinate this stuff without ruining the surprise...

  • Use Elfster for your family exchange.
  • It handles wishlists perfectly.
  • Even tech-challenged grandparents figured it out easily for us last year.

Re: "Use Elfster for your family exchange. It handles..." - totally agree, though IIRC there are other ways too if people really hate apps. Not sure but this wishlist site might be a solid backup option for older folks.

  • shared spreadsheets work if someone prints them
  • password protection keeps it secret works well for us with no complaints so far.
