Ive done this before for my wedding three years ago and it was a total breeze but now everything seems broken. Im due in early October so the baby shower is literally around the corner here in Chicago and I am trying to get my Target list to play nice with the Amazon one so people dont buy two of the same expensive stroller. I tried using the Babylist universal link feature like I usually do but for some reason half the items from Target arent showing up as synced and its driving me crazy because Ive already spent hours curating the specific SKUs for the nursery decor. I even tried the Amazon Assistant browser extension thingy but it keeps throwing a weird error whenever I try to pull in my Target registry URL directly. Is there some new API change or something that is blocking them from talking to each other lately? I really dont want to manually update two different lists every time someone buys a pack of diapers because I just dont have the time or the mental energy right now. Does anyone know a workaround to get these two to actually sync up properly without me having to check them every single morning...
actually, the issue is that target updated their site architecture and their robots.txt rules which messed with how third-party scrapers pull metadata. i’ve looked at the data and babylist has been struggling with targets dynamic loading lately. honestly, i’ve been very satisfied with using MyRegistry for my own sync needs lately. it handles the api handshakes much more reliably than the amazon assistant tool, which is basically legacy software at this point and prone to browser crashes. im quite happy with how it manages the sync function specifically for target. it doesnt just link the page; it actually pulls the specific sku data so the already purchased status updates correctly across platforms. the refresh rate is consistent too... i didnt see any lag over 20 minutes when testing the data packets. it works well if you just import your existing target url into their dashboard. i’ve had no complaints with the way it aggregates everything into a single feed. it’s a much more robust technical solution than trying to force amazons outdated extension to play nice with targets modern back-end. just make sure your target registry is set to public or the scraper will bounce. its a solid fix and saved me a ton of headache.
