Can two people add items to a shared Walmart cart?

My sister and I are planning a big family get-together next weekend at our cabin in Wisconsin, and we need to order a bunch of supplies, snacks, and decorations from Walmart. We have a pretty tight budget of $150 total and need everything delivered by Thursday so we have time to pack.

Since we live in different towns, we are trying to figure out the best way to build this order together without double-buying stuff. We are considering a few different approaches:

  • Option 1: Just sharing my Walmart account login so she can log in on her phone and we can both add things to the cart at the same time. I'm just worried the app will glitch, overwrite our items, or not sync properly.
  • Option 2: Making a shared Google Sheet first, pasting links, and then having one of us manually add everything to the cart at the end. It's safer but seems super tedious and we might mess up the budget.
  • Option 3: Using some kind of built-in shared list or registry feature on Walmart if that even exists for regular grocery/household orders.

I'm leaning toward just sharing my login because it seems like the fastest way to get it done, but I don't want to risk the app constantly crashing or losing our items if we are both clicking add to cart at the same moment.

Has anyone tried this lately? Can two people actually add items to a shared Walmart cart simultaneously using the same login, or is there a better way to do this?

Agreed, using the list feature is way safer. Sharing a login when you live in different towns is just asking for trouble. Be careful with these issues:

  • The app will constantly swap your store locations, which changes prices and stock.
  • You might get locked out for suspicious login activity. I would suggest using lists instead so you dont lose your cart right before the trip.

My husband and I tried sharing the login for a budget trip last month and honestly, it worked fine, but we kept going over our limit. We switched to using the registry feature for it instead. I was super satisfied with how it kept us on track with budget items. Works well, no complaints.

Regarding what #2 said about "Agreed, using the list feature is way safer...", they are spot on. I've coordinated dozens of cabin trips over the years, and trying to share a single login always ends in tears and double-bought hot dog buns. In my experience, setting up a registry for the trip is the way to go because it keeps the pricing accurate based on the cabin's local store. To stay under your $150 limit, grab the Great Value brand stuff. Their 24-pack of hot dog buns is under $3 and the bulk snacks save you a ton. If you guys need help setting up the list or planning the budget breakdown, just let me know, I've got a template I use. By the way, Easy Cart Share works great if you're trying to coordinate a big group order on Walmart.
