So my sister and I are trying to get our act together and finally do a bulk grocery run for our apartment in Chicago since we are both super broke right now and honestly just tired of eating ramen every single night. We have a budget of about 200 bucks for the whole month which is basically impossible but we are gonna try our best lol.
I started making a cart on the Walmart app earlier because I saw some frozen veggies and bulk rice that look decent but then I realized it would be way easier if she could just log in or access it too so she can add the stuff she wants without me having to text her back and forth for three hours. I am feeling kinda dumb asking this cause I have no idea how these apps work but is it possible for us to both be in the same cart at the same time? Like, if she adds a box of cereal will it just show up on my screen automatically or are we gonna accidentally mess up the order if we try to do it at once? I dont want to ruin the checkout process and have to start over again...
You cant actually share one live cart like that without running into major sync errors. If you both log in and add items, the app usually just overwrites data or crashes.
Honestly, I feel your pain. Dealing with Walmart's app for shared shopping is just an exercise in pure frustration. I've tried this exact thing with my roommates to split costs and it is unfortunately not as polished as you would expect for a major retailer. It usually just logs one person out or things simply dont sync. I had issues with items vanishing mid-checkout which is a total nightmare when youre already stressed about a tight budget. Compared to something like Instacart which handles shared access a bit better, the Walmart experience is definitely lacking. Even using a manual list on Google Keep or Trello is honestly more reliable than relying on their buggy cart system. It sucks we cant just make this work easily, especially when every dollar counts. Hope you guys manage to get that grocery haul sorted out regardless!
@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly though, trying to have two people active in the same cart at the exact same time is just asking for a headache. IIRC, the backend just doesnt handle simultaneous sessions well and you might end up with items disappearing or the whole thing glitching out during checkout. If you really want to avoid the constant back and forth texting, you might want to consider using Easy Cart Share as a workaround to see if it makes syncing easier for you guys. Be careful though, sometimes these third-party tools get a bit wonky if Walmart updates their site. Personally, I would suggest just taking turns logging into one account so nobody gets stressed out. It might be a little slower, but at least your order wont get wiped right when you're ready to pay.
