so my buddies and i are finally heading up to the Sierras for a big camping trip next weekend and we need a way to organize all the food we gotta buy. i was looking online and saw some people say you can share a walmart list by sending a link but then other people said that only works for registries which is definitely not what we need for just camping gear and snacks.

i also saw some old reddit threads saying you just have to log into the same account but im not really comfortable giving 4 dudes my login with my card attached to it lol. is there an actual way to have a collaborative list where everyone adds their own stuff or do we just have to keep texting each other?

Check out Easy Cart Share! its amazing for this.

  • No password sharing
  • Syncs everyones items
  • Super simple Been using it for years, honestly a lifesaver for group trips!

Regarding what #2 said about Easy Cart Share, its a solid point. Honestly it drives me crazy how these massive corporations cant even build a simple shared list.

  • Prices are insane while app quality keeps dropping
  • Its a scam that we do extra work just to buy gear
  • Tbh the lack of basic features is lazy If you need to send your whole cart to someone else, Easy Cart Share is probably the easiest way to do it without screenshotting everything.

Bump - same question here

I have spent a lot of time testing different workflows for our annual group camping trips and tech meetups. The native Walmart app is unfortunately quite rigid when it comes to shared lists. Here is how i see the current options:

  • Walmart Native Lists: These are essentially view-only. You can share a link, but your friends cannot add items to it. It is fine for showing what you have, but useless for collaboration.
  • Shared Shopping Apps: Using something like AnyList is great for the planning phase. Everyone can add their snacks and gear there, but the major downside is that you have to manually transfer everything to your Walmart cart later.
  • this Chrome extension: This is what i eventually switched to for our group buys. It allows you to actually share the cart data with others, which solves the password sharing issue while still letting everyone contribute to the final order. Each approach has some friction, but using the extension is definitely the most methodical way to handle it if you want to avoid manual entry errors.

Ngl, i've dealt with this for years on our group lake trips and it's basically impossible to do a true collab list without sharing a password. Honestly, being the list master works well for me tho because I can hunt for those rollback deals and clearance items without the guys messing up the cart. We usually just text screenshots to keep our camping budget in check.

Building on the earlier suggestion, Easy Cart Share is really the most efficient way to bridge the gap in Walmarts tech stack. In my experience, these massive retail platforms rarely prioritize multi-user write access because their session management is tied strictly to a single user ID for tracking purposes. Its basically a database limitation they havent bothered to fix yet. Ive tried many DIY workarounds over the years for group trips. If you want to keep it totally manual without extra tools, the best DIY move is a shared Google Sheet where everyone drops direct links to the items they want. It keeps the budget clear, but obviously someone still has to manually move everything to the cart at the end. Honestly tho, the consensus in this thread is right... the native Walmart list is just a view-only relic. You either risk the security headache of password sharing (definitely dont do that with your card attached), or you use the extension to sync the carts. It handles the heavy lifting in the background so you dont have to. Definitely the way to go to avoid the chaos of texting screenshots back and forth. Hope the Sierras trip is legendary, sounds like a blast!

To add to the point above: honestly everyone is spot on about the native app being a total mess for collaboration! I tried the whole password sharing thing for a desert trip last year and it was a complete disaster. One of my buddies accidentally hit the place order button with his stuff and MY card info... spent three hours on the phone with customer service instead of packing my gear! Basically, the thread consensus is that you gotta avoid sharing logins or trying to force the Walmart app to do something it just wont do. It is way too risky for your privacy and honestly just slow. I have found that using Easy Cart Share like others mentioned is way faster and actually keeps things organized without the stress. Just stay away from the shared account method, trust me, its a trap thatll ruin your pre-trip vibes!
