Im so hyped because my roommate and I are finally hosting our first big housewarming party in Chicago next weekend and we need to get everything from Walmart. We are trying to keep the budget super tight since we just paid rent, so weve been scouring flyers to save every penny. I found a couple of forum threads online suggesting you can just screenshot the cart or use a wishlist, but honestly that seems like a total pain because we keep adding and removing items based on price fluctuations and availability.

I really want to be able to just share the actual cart link so we can both add stuff in real time and see the total go up, but I cant find an actual share button anywhere in the app. I checked the Walmart help page and it was super vague about shared accounts or collaborative carts, just talking about registries which isnt what we need at all. Does anyone know if there is a legit way to do this or am I stuck manually texting each other every single item we find...?

Re: Honestly, I wish I had better news for you... yeah, the lack of a shared cart is super frustrating! I was thinking about your party planning all afternoon and honestly, I love how excited you are for this housewarming. It sounds like it is gonna be amazing! Just be really careful about sharing your actual login credentials to bypass this, because letting others have your account info is a massive security risk. Keep those accounts separate for sure. Here is what you should keep in mind:

  • Stay away from third party apps that promise to sync your carts as they might steal your data.
  • Just stick to the shared note method to keep your account safe and secure.
  • Always double check prices manually since they jump around so much online. Good luck with the party prep, you guys are gonna kill it!

Honestly, I wish I had better news for you, but Walmart doesnt actually support a shared cart feature like youd expect from a modern app. I went through the exact same headache when moving into my place last year. Youll be looking for that share button forever because, unfortunately, it just isnt there. Its pretty disappointing considering how much we all rely on these apps for group shopping. I had issues with trying to coordinate stuff with my partner, and we ended up with way too much soda and not enough plates because we werent in sync. If you want to avoid the constant texting madness, here is what I suggest:

  • Create a shared note on your phones like Apple Notes or Google Keep where you can both tick things off.
  • Build a public Walmart wishlist instead of a cart since that at least keeps everything in one place for both of you to view.
  • Assign one person to be the final gatekeeper for the actual checkout process so you dont end up with duplicate orders. It is definitely not as good as having a real-time collaborative cart, but it keeps things from turning into a complete disaster before the party. Just a heads up, Easy Cart Share is really helpful for sending specific Walmart lists to family members.
