Can I collaborate on a Walmart grocery cart with my spouse?

So Ive been using Walmart+ for like three years now and honestly its usually pretty seamless for my weekly runs. I know my way around the app and the whole checkout flow pretty well but I hit a weird wall today. We are hosting a massive family reunion next weekend here in suburban Ohio and the grocery list is getting out of hand—probably looking at a $300-$400 haul just for the snacks and grill stuff.

I tried to have my husband log into my account on his phone so we could both just add things as we thought of them throughout the day but its acting super glitchy. Like Ill add a 24-pack of burgers and then he refreshes his screen and its not there or it doubles the count randomly. Its like the session isnt syncing properly across two devices even though its the same login and I dont want to accidentally order six gallons of milk. I thought maybe there was a specific collaborative cart feature or a way to share the list that Im just totally missing?

I really dont want to have to copy-paste a notes app list into the search bar fifty times right before the delivery cutoff on Friday night. Is there an actual way to have two people building the same cart in real-time without it bugging out or do we just have to pass one phone back and forth like its 2010?

Yeah, the list method mentioned above is definitely the way to go because it handles those database writes way better than a live cart session. I remember doing a huge graduation party last year and I tried the two phones, one login strategy... total nightmare. I think I ended up with twelve boxes of crackers because the app cache kept lagging and syncing weirdly. If you go the list route, I would suggest being careful with a few things:

  • List-to-Cart: Best for building the order over days, but make sure to refresh right before the final move so you dont get out-of-stock errors.
  • Single Device: Safest for accuracy, but honestly its gonna take forever for a 400 dollar haul. I would suggest doing one final audit of the cart quantities before you pay. Just a heads up, Easy Cart Share is really helpful for sending specific Walmart lists to family members.

Walmart doesnt support real-time cart synchronization, which leads to those session glitches. The most effective technical workaround involves using the List function instead of the active shopping cart.

  • Create a custom list for your reunion items.
  • Both of you can add items to this list simultaneously.
  • Move the entire list to your cart only when youre ready to finalize. This avoids duplicate entries and ensures the inventory stays accurate.
