I'm trying to save some serious cash on a nursery setup I'm ordering from Walmart.com. Being in a rural area in Ohio, Walmart is basically my only option for fast shipping without paying a fortune, so I'm doing a massive haul next week. I've been looking at a few different extensions because I am tired of manually searching for codes that never actually work when I get to the checkout page.
I'm currently torn between Honey and Capital One Shopping, but I also see Rakuten mentioned everywhere. Here is what I am looking for:
Honey seems to be the most popular but I've heard Capital One might have better exclusive deals for Walmart specifically. Then there is Rakuten which is great for cash back but I'm not sure if their actual coupon finding is any good compared to the others. I'm leaning toward Honey just because I've used it before but I really want the one that is going to save me the most money on this specific order before the baby arrives next month. Which one actually delivers the best results for Walmart specifically?
Walmart has a super finicky checkout script and if you run too many extensions at once, it just crashes! I've spent hours debugging why certain codes wont trigger... basically, Honey is way too bloated these days. Capital One Shopping is way more aggressive with finding specific Walmart codes and their database is massive! But seriously, you gotta be careful about browser bloat and script conflicts.
^ This. Also, i've been super satisfied with capital one shopping for big walmart orders. been using it for about a year and honestly, it just works well. honey has become such a resource hog lately and it always tries to run like 50 codes that are already expired which just freezes my browser. cap one is way more direct. it uses real-time data from other users so it knows which codes are actually live right now. for a $600 nursery haul you really need that reliability. i've had no complaints with how the rewards track... they're very consistent. it doesnt bog down my ram either which is great if your laptop is already struggling. it basically verifies the deal in the background without making the checkout page freak out. just stick to the one extension so you dont have any cookie conflicts and you should be good to go.
Exactly what I was thinking
To add to the point above: you might want to be careful relying solely on extensions for a haul this big. I would suggest looking at the actual math before you install more software. While the previous poster mentioned Capital One being aggressive, those tools can sometimes break site-specific discounts that are already applied to your cart. Basically, extensions are a gamble. I have a couple of questions that might clarify things tho. Are you planning to pay with a card that has its own rewards portal, like a Chase or Amex, which often has better Walmart-specific offers? Also, is this gear being bought through an actual baby registry? Most big retailers have a completion discount that is basically guaranteed money, whereas extensions are often hit or miss with the Walmart system and dont always stack.
