Im trying to get my grocery bill under control because rent is honestly eating up way too much of my paycheck lately. I usually shop at the Walmart in North Austin but I feel like Im always overspending when I walk out the door. I’ve been looking into either using the Walmart app for grocery pickup or just sticking to their store brand Great Value stuff strictly but I dont know if the app actually saves money or if I end up impulse buying more because of the screen. Im also thinking about maybe getting the Walmart+ membership if it pays for itself but I honestly dont know if it makes a dent in the monthly food costs. Ive got about 300 bucks a month for food for just myself so it needs to be pretty tight.

What are the best tips to save money at Walmart? Does anyone actually find the store brand stuff worth it or am I better off using their app to track my total so I dont go over budget? Im just kinda tired of seeing the bill climb every single week...

Oh man, I totally feel your pain! Rent prices are just absolutely wild lately, and I've been in that exact same boat trying to keep my food budget under control. Honestly, switching to Great Value stuff was a total game changer for me! Most of it tastes exactly like the name brands but for way less cash, which is amazing.

  • I started using the pickup app to avoid those tempting candy aisles that kill my budget!
  • I usually just set a target price on PriceDropCatch and it pings me when the price actually hits that mark. It saves me so much stress! Quick questions for you though: are you trying to meal prep for the whole week to save time, or do you prefer cooking fresh every single night? Also, are you checking the unit prices on the labels while you shop?
