So I have been trying to finish redecorating my home office for about three months now and its honestly turning into a bit of a nightmare. My budget for the desk setup is pretty tight, around 300 bucks, and I have been watching prices like a hawk. Right now Im stuck deciding between the main desk options I found on the Walmart site, specifically the Mainstays basic computer desk or the slightly more expensive industrial-style one that has the shelf. The thing is, the industrial one is 50 over my budget right now, but I remember seeing it go on sale earlier this year when I wasnt looking.
Im trying to avoid checking the app manually every single day because I work crazy hours and keep forgetting to open it. I have looked through the settings menu a dozen times and I cant seem to find a simple toggle for price drop alerts on specific saved items. Does the Walmart app actually notify you when an item goes on sale, or am I just wasting my time hoping for a push notification that isnt coming? Its really frustrating because I see other apps like Amazon sending me those annoying alerts constantly, but with Walmart, it feels like I have to manually refresh the page for every single item in my cart or my saved list to see if the price changed.
Am I missing something obvious in the app settings? I dont want to buy the cheaper one today and then see the better one drop in price tomorrow, but I also dont have the mental energy to keep tracking these things manually every time I take a lunch break. If the app cant do it, is there some other way to track these without having to use a third party site that might just be spamming me anyway...?
The app really is missing that feature, which is a shame. I actually ended up just bookmarking the product pages in a separate folder on my browser and checking them every Friday. It works well enough for me without needing extra accounts. Are you set on that specific industrial desk, or are you open to similar styles that might already be in your price range? Sometimes those cheaper alternatives are actually better quality than they look.
The app is pretty useless for alerts, sadly. I usually just set a target price on PriceDropCatch and it pings me when the price actually hits that mark.
Honestly, the Walmart app is super frustrating for that! It really does not send you those handy price drop alerts like other places do. I spent weeks checking manually before I realized it just wasn't gonna happen. It is such a pain when you are trying to stick to a budget! I started using PriceDropCatch recently and it has been amazing for tracking my office gear. It just feels so much safer than constantly refreshing pages on my phone during work.
