so i was thinking about the magic keyboard but it only fits certain sizes and my logic was that i need one for both my old mini and my school pro. i saw the logitech k380 online but people say the switching is laggy... is there one that just works for everything without being $300?

If you want one keyboard for both your Mini and Pro, a standalone Bluetooth board is your best bet. The Logitech K380s Pebble Keys 2 Bluetooth Keyboard is a standard recommendation for a reason.

  • Pairs with three devices
  • Slim for portability
  • Solid battery life The switching lag is usually overblown; it takes maybe two seconds to swap. Its a decent option that works for everything and is way more economical than buying separate Magic Keyboards.

Been thinking about your dilemma and honestly, it's pretty frustrating how hard it is to find a perfect universal board. Unfortunately, most universal options usually suck in real life. I previously spent way too much money on a high-end folio that only fit one iPad model and it felt like a total waste once I upgraded. I even tried those cheap generic bluetooth boards you see everywhere, but they were honestly garbage... keys felt like typing on sponges. I had issues with the connection dropping constantly too, it just wasn't as good as expected for actual work. If you're looking for something that actually feels premium without the $300 price tag, you should definitely check out the Keychron K3 Ultra-slim Wireless Mechanical Keyboard Version 2. It's a mechanical board so the typing experience is miles better than those mushy laptop keys, and it lets you pair with up to three devices. I switch between my Pro and my phone all the time and it's basically instant. One thing though, since it's not a case, you'll need a way to prop up your iPads. I've had issues with cheap stands collapsing, so I'd suggest getting something sturdy like the Lamicall Adjustable Tablet Stand Desktop Holder. It's much more reliable for school than trying to lean your iPad against a water bottle or something lol. Lemme know if you need help picking switches for the keyboard, there are a few options depending on how loud you want it to be!

Just seeing this now. I tried going the cheap route with some no-name brand before and it was a total mistake... keys literally popped off in my bag. I eventually found a folding setup that works way better for swapping between different iPad sizes.

  • iClever BK08 Folding Bluetooth Keyboard with Touchpad handles three devices easily.
  • Watch out for older micro-USB versions, definitely look for USB-C.
  • It folds up tiny for your Mini.
