I’m looking for a solid stylus for my iPad that won't break the bank like the official Apple Pencil. I mainly need it for note-taking, so palm rejection and good battery life are essential. My budget is under $40. Does anyone have experience with reliable third-party brands that actually feel responsive and lag-free?

> "basically just works lol!" Seconding the recommendation above! JAMJAKE is solid, but I've found the ESR Digital Pencil for iPad is lowkey even better for precision. It has a 1.5mm nib and the battery life is actually insane—13 hours of active use. Its way more premium than the price suggests. Plus, it charges via USB-C which is super convenient. Do u think u need magnetic charging or is cable fine?

Honestly, while those other options are fine for casual use, I have to disagree that just any cheap pen works for long-term heavy note-taking. After using various ones daily for over a year, I've noticed that many budget pens fail at the charging port or have aggressive auto-sleep timers that drive u crazy during a lecture. If ur looking for real reliability, check these out:

  • Kingone Upgraded Stylus Pen: This is the most durable one in terms of the nib housing. It has proper tilt sensitivity which is great for highlighting, and the latency is basically indistinguishable from the first-party version. Plus the magnetic attachment is actually strong enough to hold.
  • Baseus Smooth Writing Stylus: This is a total sleeper hit because it includes a real-time LED battery percentage indicator. Tbh most cheap pens just flash red when they are already dying, but knowing exactly how much juice is left helps u plan ur study sessions way better. Both use standard POM tips so u wont have trouble finding replacements when they eventually wear down after a few months of writing!!!
